A customer could help find out why a certain are of people aren't buying it and an employee can tell you why production has slowed down even though the demand has stayed the same.
Listening usually involves changes and if you are to change something then it is important to watch how you change it. If you find a problem inside of your business and choose to take care of it, the way you take care of it will be remembered by employee's and customers alike. If you choose the best course of action is to fire someone, look at what they did and try to be sympathetic. Giving just one employee a 2 week notice allows them to find another job and makes you seem like a caring boss which creates more loyalty and dedication in a business.
