ASUS Computex 2012 - Endless Possibilities : Does one plus one always equal two?

Description :

With a few days to go until Computex 2012 kicks off, Asus has decided to put up a few short teaser videos that include various hints at certain features that upcoming Asus devices could offer.

But more importantly, some of these videos suggest that the Android device maker may announce a dual-booting Android - Windows 8 Device next week.

Speculations of course have run wild! Another speculation has been that this could be a new all-in-one Computer from Asus that would run on both operating systems.

The first video below is entitled “The Incredible Transformations” and teases a tablet that will come with a keyboard, will pack certain cloud-related powers and that will be unveiled in Taiwan. That “Transformation” part of the title suggests that we could be looking at the next-gen Transformer model teased in the video.

By itself, the 43-second teaser video is not that exciting, since we already knew Asus can produce some interesting Android tablets. But Asus released two more teaser videos, shorter than the first one, to make sure tablet fans are paying attention.

The second teaser, entitled “All-in-One is No Longer In One” is a 16-second spot that clearly shows two distinct logos in water drops – see the images above. We’re looking at the Windows 8 and Android logos, each one present in its own drop of water. That clearly suggests that at least one of Asus future tablets will be able to run Android and Windows 8, a combination that plenty of tablet users would enjoy.

The third teaser, called “When Two Sides Unite”, a 17-second clip, also indicates that an upcoming Asus tablet will pack two “sides” that will be available on the same device. We’re obviously looking at Android and Windows 8, as no other mobile OS combination would make sense. The words “Tai” and “Chi” are present on either side of that piece of paper. Together, “Tai Chi” stands for an Asian martial arts style.

Whatever the case we are now hooked and we want to see what Asus is cooking.

Enjoy the videos!

Asus : New TF700T Transformer Prime Android Tablet Upgrade Full-HD Resolution

Description :
Asus has introduced the new TF700T Android tablet, a new variant of its Eee Pad Transformer Prime, whose major upgrade is a move to a 1920 x 1200 screen resolution.

That makes two Android tablets moving to a 1080p res, following Acer’s Iconia Tab A700. Another significant upgrade is in the tablet’s rear cover design, which has been altered to allow for better GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth performance. The front-facing camera has been upgraded from 1.2 to 2 megapixels.

Transformer Prime TF700T will be shipped with Android 4.01, including the 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 system-on-chip. The 10.1 inch display is still made of the SuperIPS+ stuff, which is considered even better with the upgrade to full HD resolution.

Onboard storage on the new Prime will be either 32GB or 64GB, depending on buyer’s preference. It will also be compatible with the previous Transformer Prime’s keyboard dock.

The price of TF700T should cost between $599 and $699 when it hits the market’s shelves in the second quarter of 2012. We really hope the upgrade of ice cream sandwich has optimized for that new beautiful display, and of course we need more apps to match the 1920 x 1200 resolution.

AMD Radeon HD 6950 & 6970 latest high-end Video Card series

Description :

With the "Cayman" GPU architecture from AMD came two very good video card models : the Radeon HD 6950 and the 6970. These have both been excellent sellers for AMD and product partners.

ASUS Radeon HD 6950 DirectCU II Overclocked :

It seems that every time we turn around there a new PC component that is new to the market that we must have. Just recently we see that AMD just received a new processor featuring quad-cores, Intel is right around the corner (we hope) with their new offering and before we can blank we will probably be seeing new Radeon 7xxx series graphic cards as well as Nvidia 7xx family models.
Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of upgrading to the newest and faster product, will when I can afford them. But before we see these new GPUs, the current units are doing an awfully good job of performing and blasting through today’s video cards as well as other highly graphic utilized applications.
One of these graphic cards would be the Radeon HD 6950 from AMD. This particular GPU is considered by many to be the best band-for-the-buck cards out there. We won’t agree or disagree until we get a chance to put it on the bench.
The Radeon HD 6950 is from the Cayman Pro family that boasts an 800MHz core clock as well as 1250MHz GDDR5 memory clock. This along for many maybe enough to consider the card a worthy purchase but the 1408 shader processors and 2GB of memory definitely does help a lot.
Our sample we are testing today is from ASUS and you know they are not ones to leave reference numbers and parts alone. The Radeon HD 6950 DirectCU II increases the stock core clock to 810MHz while the memory clock remains the same. But where this Radeon HD 6950 is in the cooling department which is based on direct heat pipe technology to help keep core clocks are bay.

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GB Dual Fan Overclocked:

If you were to take a look over at Sapphire’s website you will see several Radeon HD 6970 listed, 7 to be exact. Which, besides a possible bundled game, you may want to know what exactly the real differences between the models are. To put it briefly, all have a standard 880MHz core and 2GB of GDDR5 memory; some have a game bundle, some don't, but primarily it is a difference in the equipped cooler. That last one is where today's review sample comes in. It has dual fans to help with sound reduction, as well as better cooling in conjunction with the 8mm & 6mm heat pipes. There is also the dual BIOS switch, something normally available on many Radeon HD 6950 and HD 6990 models. We will get more into this during the review process, but felt we should break down what makes this model stand out.

The new SAPPHIRE HD 6970 has the same internal architecture as the standard model, with 1536 stream processors and 96 texture processing units, and clock speeds are 880MHz for the core and 1375 MHz (5.5Gb/sec effective) for the 2GB of GDDR5 memory. This new design has two 90mm fans with thin impellers that can move the same amount of air at 10% lower rotation speeds than conventional fans, keeping noise low, and their special dust repelling bearings contribute to high reliability.
With the Dual BIOs set to the standard position, the Dual fans keep this model quiet and up to 25% cooler than the standard model even under load conditions. With the BIOS switched to the performance setting, the core voltage of the GPU is raised to 1.2V, the fan speed is set to a high performance profile and the power tune adjustment for overclocking is raised to 50% allowing the user to maximize performance of the card by increasing clock speeds either with AMD Overdrive or with SAPPHIRE TriXX up to a ceiling of 1500MHz core, 2000MHz memory.

Asus Transformer Prime Quad Core Is Coming

Description :

The Eee Pad Transformer Prime is coming. Asus brings to you the next transformation in tablet technology, one that is better than its predecessor in every aspect.

Their latest offering is faster, stronger, slimmer, and of course, sexier. They strived to break free from the normal constraints of a device through constant innovation, and the result is the Eee Pad Transformer Prime.

The Eee Pad Transformer Prime is the world's first tablet to feature Project Kal - El, NVIDIA's next - generation Quad Core Tegra® mobile chip, giving birth to a new breed of high powered tablet devices. Armed with this technology, the Transformer Prime is blazing fast. In fact, they are setting a new industry standard for how fast a tablet should be. Multitasking and HD movies? Piece of cake.

With the all new Eee Pad Transformer Prime, there on Asus, are setting a benchmark for what tablets should be.

The tablet itself will have 12 hours of movie playback battery life, while combining the tablet with the mobile dock will increase the battery life to 18 hours. The starting price is $499 USD for the 32GB version, and $599 USD for the 64GB version. The separate mobile dock will sell for an additional $149 USD

The screen will come at 1280×800 resolution, and will include Super IPS+ capabilities. This basically will increase the brightness of the screen to 600 nits, making it extremely bright and suitable for outdoor viewing. Super IPS+ would make the ASUS Transformer Prime the brightest tablet on the market.

The front has a 1.2 megapixel camera, while the back has an 8.0 megapixel camera, with LED flash, continuous focus, touch to focus, and an increased aperture size. The increased aperture size from the usual F/2.8 to F/2.4 (smaller is better) will allow more light to come in, which should significantly improve the quality of the images taken.

Of course, just like the original ASUS Transformer, the ASUS Transformer Prime will come with a variety of ports. On the tablet itself, we are going to get a Micro HDMI port as well as a Micro SD port. The mobile dock will have a standard USB 2.0 port as a full sized SD card port. To be consistent with the redesigned tablet, the mobile dock has also been slimmed down and looks much sexier than the previous generation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the mobile dock will be compatible between generations like initially promised last year.

When it comes to design, the ASUS Transformer Prime, as previously revealed, will sport the same metallic spun finish as ASUS Zenbook. In the weight department, the ASUS Transformer Prime tablet measures in at 8.3mm thin, and weighs in only at 586g. Not shabby at all. Both the back metallic cover and the screen have been treated with a hydro oleophobic solution, making it more fingerprint resistant. This should help you to keep your ASUS Transformer Prime looking newer longer. This device will also come in two colors, one in amethyst gray, and another in champagne gold.

Finally, for the OS, it looks like ASUS Transformer Prime will still be shipping with Android Honeycomb. However, the folks over at ASUS did mention that they will reveal more information about Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in December.

ASUS : P9X79WS X79 Workstation board

Description :

Hey folks. I got some interesting news for you today. Not entirely unexpected, Asus will be launching a WS or WorkStation version of its P9X79 motherboards which is simply called the P9X79WS and the first picture of the new board has now appeared online. This model shares some basic design elements with the Pro and Deluxe boards, but it's pretty clear that it's not intended for the same market.

ASUS : P9X79WS X79 Workstation board

ASUS may have the amazingly sexy Republic of Gaming boards, but Workstation (WS) series boards are filled to the brim with great detail and are fit for mission - critical environments. The WS - branded boards are usually based on chipsets from Intel's client product lines rather than Enterprise lines. Intel's Sandy Bridge - E 1P platform will get a similar treatment with the P9X79WS.

The board is based on an ATX form-factor, and uses the typical X79 layout. The socket LGA2011 is powered by a 10 - phase Digi+ VRM, which is cooled by a heatsink that shares its heat with a VRM heatsink cluster over the memory VRM, and one over the X79 PCH.

ASUS : P9X79WS X79 Workstation board

ASUS' P9X79WS features eight DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting SB-E's quad-channel memory, and all PCI-Express slots are long-type, and the board supports 4-way NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire X support. Storage-wise we have two SATA 6Gbps and four SATA 3Gbps from the PCH, two SATA 6Gbps from a discrete controller, and to my surprise, a lack of eSATA.

Six USB 3.0 ports are included with two on the rear panel and four provided by headers, two Gigabit Ethernet connections both from Intel-made controllers, Firewire and 8-channel HD audio.
